Rock and Worship Roadshow

Last night we officially kick-off our new youth group, “Plus One”, with a trip into Boise for the Rock and Worship Roadshow. With eight bands of various musical genres, it was a fun and entertaining evening. :D

For more details about the evening, visit the PRV Facebook page (see link to the right) or navigate over too Pastor Josh’s personal blog.

Shelton and Rebecca Taguma – Ministry in Zimbabwe

This past Sunday was a full day with the Taguma’s. We were privileged to hear of the ministry in Zimbabwe, the people, and the culture of the country. Thank you, Shelton and Rebecca, for sharing your heart with us.

Meeting Jesus in the Mountains

Yesterday instead of meeting in the Sweet-Montour school like we usually do, the Payette River Vineyard family took to the mountains to worship in the Pinehurst church building in Dry Buck (30 or so minutes north of Sweet).

The Pinehurst church is a ‘thin place’ full of history and love where one can feel the presence of God in a special way. It was in this building a year ago that the Lord started to move upon our fellowship, leading us into a wonderful season full of God’s mercy.

Church in the Mountains (Aug 14th)

Pinehurst Church

On Sunday, August 14th, we will be meeting at the Pinehurst church building on Drybuck road.

Services will start around 10:30 am or whenever enough folks show up – following the service we will have a potluck BBQ and general fellowship time.

Later on in the afternoon, we will have a time of worship and prayer as the 14th is our normal second Sunday prayer evening. We also may have a baptism as some folk are interested in being baptized (contact Pastor Josh if this is you – 866-6143).

It is recommended that folks bring chairs or blankets to sit on during the meal time as it will be outside. Sunscreen and hats are also good to have.

Note that some people are going to met at the Sweet-Montour School at 10:00am and car pool up the mountain. Please let Emily Hopping (866-6143) know if you are interested.

Map and directions to the Pinehurst church can be found online at Google Maps.

Guest Speaker from the Vineyard Nampa on Sunday

We are pleased to announce that Kurt Eshelman will be sharing with us on May 1st.

Kurt is the pastor of the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Nampa, Idaho and has been with the Vineyard Movement since the very beginning. Come one, come all as it is sure to be a grand time. :D

Special Podcast: The Taguma’s Work in Zimbabwe

We were blessed Sunday evening to hear from Shelton and Rebecca Taguma from Zimbabwe. As they shared about the work they are doing to support grassroots organizations and churches, it became evident that God was using them to love the people He loves.

How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
   who bring good tidings,
   who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
   “Your God reigns!”
(Isaiah 52:7)

It is also interesting to note that the Taguma’s message Sunday evening dovetailed perfectly with what Pastor Josh shared that morning. God is definitely on the move!

Zimbabwe Missionaries to Visit Sweet THIS Sunday Evening

A quick reminder that Shelton and Rebecca Taguma, Vineyard Boise missionaries to Zimbabwe, Africa, will be visiting the Sweet community this Sunday, April 17th, at 6 pm (Sweet/Montour Elementary School).

This is going to be great time hearing about the work of our Lord in Africa. To risk a cliche, you do not want to miss this event as it is going to rock. :)

Their work in includes supporting grassroots Zimbabwean organizations and churches that are strengthening families and developing communities; working with teen moms, orphans, child-headed households, and women with AIDS; and developing relevant life skills and leadership materials and programs for young people in their communities.

Church at a Crossroad

At the Lord’s leading, Pastor Brian has decided to step down as senior pastor of the Payette River Vineyard to pursue other opportunities. This is both exciting and sad as we will all miss Brian. :(

This news puts the PRV family at a crossroad in deciding what the future holds. On Sunday, Feb 13th, Associate Pastor Josh Hopping spoke to us about this crossroad and the decisions before the church. I pray that each of you will listen to this very important sermon as Josh lays out his heart and vision for the future of PRV.

Letter to the PRV Family

Thank you all so much for your faithfulness and support throughout 2010!

It has been amazing to see God moving in our fellowship and in our community in such a powerful way. Some of the highlights of the year were those times when our church has been able to partner with other groups in our community to make a bigger impact.

  • Vacation Bible School this summer was an incredible success providing summer fun and Biblical teaching for 30-40 kids – all made possible by the volunteers from so many different parts of our community.
  • We had the fun of joining with two other churches this summer for a joint baptismal service with 5+ people being baptized from each church.
  • God’s Community Food Pantry has continued to make a huge difference in the surrounding communities, feeding over 4,000 people in 2010 both families and school children.
