Vineyard Values Series: Compassionate Ministry

Weaving together themes from all five of our core values, Pastor Josh ends the Vineyard Core Values” series with a heartfelt message looking at the question of why:

  • Why do we do what we do?
  • Why do we host a food pantry?
  • Why do we stand on the side of the downtrodden and the outcast?
  • Why do we stress the importance of listening to God?

Joining Pastor Josh at the beginning of the message is Bill and Betty Willhite, God’s Community Food Pantry leaders, along with a few other volunteers sharing their heart for why they give their time helping out at the food pantry / clothing closet.

Sweet-Montour Christmas Bazaar

God’s Community Food Pantry raised $970 last Saturday at the Sweet-Montour community Christmas bazaar. These funds will go towards buying a new commercial grade refrigerator that replace the bulky, power hungry fringe currently being used.

The new commercial grade refrigerator cost approximately $2,000 – meaning that we are about half way there! All glory to the King of Kings!

God’s Community Pantry Update

This summer we have been blessed to help many people in the community and in the out laying areas with food, clothes, prayer and love. Thanks to all our community partners, volunteers and extra support from the many who just felt compelled to help.

We have been able to feed and clothe over 1,500 people from May 1st to Aug 31st – and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down!! This is why all help in any form is so greatly appreciated.

Note that canned food is low at the pantry right now because the Idaho Food Bank is low on canned goods (they are serving 119,000 people a month!). Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated. Sundries of any kind would also be useful.

Ola School Outreach

We have re-started our outreach program at the Ola School. This consists of providing snacks to the children as they do not have access to the hot lunch program. Being able to provide them with nourishing snacks is very important to the well being of the children.

We don’t always get as much as we need from the Idaho Food Bank so if anyone is led to help in this area, it would be greatly appreciated. We could also use some help with driving up there twice a month to deliver the snacks.

Free Medical Clinic

Vineyard Boise has a free medical clinic open to anyone in need, provided they don’t already have insurance. The hours are 9:30 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday and Saturday.

This clinic is staffed by volunteer physicians and medial personal, so no fear of inferior treatments. It is a great program and they assured us that anyone in need is welcome. Also, you can call the 211 care line for more information on other help.
